DWI COMMUNITY WELLNESS & OUTREACH COORDINATOR - STARTING PAY: $28.23 - $31.15 PER HOUR DOE

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The Community Wellness and Outreach Coordinator play an essential role in Eddy County's efforts to
combat alcohol-related issues by planning, developing, and implementing a variety of targeted
program activities. The primary focus of these initiatives is to prevent the incidence of Driving While
Impaired (DWI) offenses, binge drinking, underage drinking, and other types of alcohol-related harm
within the community. A key component of this position involves facilitating the Carlsbad DWI School,
a structured program designed to educate individuals regarding the dangers of impaired driving and
to promote responsible behaviors; as well as overseeing and facilitating the DWISE Victim Impact
Program, which offers insights into the ramifications of impaired driving through narratives from those
affected by DWI incidents. To successfully meet the responsibilities of this role, the employee is
required to obtain certification as a DWI School Facilitator within their first year of employment. This
certification is essential for facilitating the Carlsbad DWI School sessions. The Coordinator will be the
senior DWI School Facilitator. The Coordinator must achieve a certification as a Prevention Specialist
or actively work towards this qualification, with a commitment to maintaining certification once it is
obtained. All prevention programs under the Coordinator's guidance must adhere to oversight by a
Certified Prevention Specialist, ensuring that established standards and practices are met. Regular
updates to the Prevention section of the Management Data System are required, alongside other
reporting functions as directed by the DWI Program Manager and the Eddy County Community
Services Director, to track progress and efficacy in prevention efforts. Additionally, the Coordinator is
expected to actively participate in the monthly DWI Program Advisory Council meetings. These
meetings provide a platform for collaboration, strategic planning, and discussion regarding ongoing
and future initiatives. Office hours will vary. This position will be paid with grant funds and will remain
in effect as long as grant funding is available. Employee may be required to work irregular hours,
attend job related meetings, and perform other job duties as assigned.
