BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The Treasury Administrative Assistant is responsible for processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with tax-related inquiries within the Treasurer’s Office. This position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work independently while ensuring compliance with county financial policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILIES:
? Financial Transactions & Cash Handling:
o Receive, process, and balance daily payments, including property taxes and other county fees.
o Maintain and reconcile cash drawers to ensure accurate financial records.
o Balance deposits with taxes paid and bank transactions.
o Process and track revenue county-wide, ensuring alignment with the County Finance Program.
? Tax & Collections Administration:
o Research property tax listings and respond to tax-related requests.
o Conduct county-wide fieldwork for collections, as needed.
o Follow up on past-due accounts and assist with collection efforts.
? Administrative & Office Support:
o Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly financial reports.
o Answer phone calls and respond to routine inquiries from the public.
o Assist the Treasurer and other staff with administrative tasks as needed.
? Other Duties:
o Work irregular hours as required, including travel to the Artesia or Carlsbad offices.
o Attend job-related meetings, training, and professional development activities.
o Perform additional duties as assigned to support Treasurer’s Office operations.

STARTING SALARY RANGE:
$26.87 - $29.65 per hour DOE
