BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The position of Investigator is assigned to the Captain of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Eddy County Sheriff's Office. Testing for the position is outlined in the Eddy County Sheriff's Office Policy and Procedure Manual. Investigator duties include investigating criminal activity, reviewing and writing complex reports, processing crime scenes, undercover assignments, obtaining evidence, interviewing witnesses, developing informants, preparing case files, testifying in court, and other duties assigned by the Sheriff or his designee.

Investigators must be able to prepare and execute search warrants, criminal complaints, and other work-related affidavits. Investigators must maintain a high level of confidentiality. Investigators are subject to being on call on a rotating basis and callouts at any time. Investigators perform duties with minimal supervision, work irregular hours, attend meetings, and perform all other duties as assigned.
