DETENTION COMPLIANCE LIEUTENANT - STARTING PAY: $39.86 PER HOUR DOE

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

This position is a Security/Administration position that is under the direct supervision of the Warden; this position will be responsible for; being familiar with Employee Handbook, Personnel policies and procedures manual and Facility policy and procedures in order to effectively measure conformance to New Mexico County’s standards; conduct on the job training for facility staff regarding the accreditation process and for subsequent documentation that be required. Will be responsible for all county training and detention training for all staff. Will and assist with the Safety monthly safety meetings and tracking of monthly safety program. Develop and prepare administrative reports that clearly and concisely reflect the operations of the facility and disburse these reports to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner so that the management is kept informed; assist as liaison with agencies to build positive and cooperative working relationships; coordinate all outside resources (e.g. Fire Marshal, Engineer, Health Department, to provide necessary documentation for mandatory compliance; prepare quarterly and annual progress evaluation, will audit each department with recommendations for compliance changes to ensure contractual and accreditation obligations are met following audit reports and process indicators; may provide leadership to peer or lower classified employees through the assignment of work, monitoring of progress and review of results, and technical instruction or training; at least once per quarter or as determined by the Warden visit each department and complete an internal monitoring evaluation to ensure ongoing program compliance, and prepare a written report to appropriate personnel; participate in staff meetings by sharing observations and recommendations regarding the office and staff relations to identify and solve problems and function as a unified team; complete in-service training to meet the requirements for continued personal and professional self-development (Full-time employees 40 hours per year and proportionate hours for all other classifications of employees.); perform audits, determined by the Warden for all aspects of policy and post orders; must have knowledge of Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003; will assist training with PREA guidelines and will obtain PREA investigator certification with the first year; maintain confidentiality obtained through job duties regarding employees, vendors, and residents, outside agencies, etc. so that sensitive information is only given on an “as needed” basis; comply with work rules and policies as explained in the company Employee Handbook and the facility policies and procedures manual; respond positively to directives from Managers and Supervisors in a cooperative spirit to ensure conformance to standards. Adhere to attendance policy; work overtime as required, to ensure adequate coverage of the program and to ensure the safety and security of the residents; comply with facility safety rules; take appropriate corrective action to ensure work is performed in a safe manner and without injury to self or others.; may be required to cover security post when needed, communicate effectively with all levels of staff in a manner that promotes a team spirit and a sense of cooperation. Will be required to assist with job fairs, work closely with the training Lieutenant as directed. Employee may be required to work irregular hours, attend job-related meetings in and out of town, respond to emergency calls, and perform other duties assigned.
